Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
