Smuggling Techniques

Regarding inquiries concerning why smugglers utilize a technique that proves particularly vulnerable to weather factors rather than easier to manage drones, authorities explained that "Meteorological balloons are simple mechanisms used by contraband transporters - they are less expensive than drones for transporting cigarettes from Belarus."

Security Service Goals

Representatives further stated that "The objective of our agencies is to confiscate the maximum possible amounts of illegal goods and to arrest masterminds and involved individuals so that this activity become unprofitable and do not pose risk to commercial air travel."

European Tensions

These airspace violations occur during a period of increased concerns in Europe following various aerial device infiltrations that have caused air traffic disruption across the region.

Parallel situations in neighboring countries have led European authorities to fast-track conversations about strengthening air defences throughout European airspace.
